Exam Resources
On this page you’ll find a selection of resources that are particularly relevant if you’re taking one of my IGCSE English Language or Literature courses. Even if you aren’t taking a course with me and are working independently, you’re most welcome to use these resources, which are free.
The Youtube videos are walk throughs of exam papers showing you what to expect in terms of exam questions and how to approach them. I reference my courses at times in these videos, and the chapter to which they refer, but they should be helpful nonetheless. I am still completing this resource so bear with me!
You’ll also find ideal answers to the longer essay questions for both English Literature and English Language. I’ve provided examples of a grade 6, 7 and 9 essays with guidance about why these essays attained those grades (and in the case of lower grades, failed to get a higher grade). Again, at the time of writing in mid-April 2026 I am still completing this resource so keep checking back. It will be complete before the end of April.
This is an ongoing resource which I am adding to regularly and updating, so it is worth checking in from time to time.

What follow are ideal answers for essay questions for Edexcel for the Unseen Poetry, the Poetry Anthology, Pride and Prejudice, The Whale Rider and An Inspector Calls. I have compiled essays for grade 6, 7 and 9 and given feedback on how and why these essays meet the mark scheme requirements or fall short. Hopefully they will be helpful for your revision. Please note that these essays are longer than you could produce in the exam and written in a more adult style. Don’t be daunted - I did this to show different sorts of strengths and weaknesses in the essays that would be hard to show in shorter pieces of writing.
