All about the Word Weavers course for Home Educators

 

Beware! Words have powers!
Do you think you can learn the spells to master them?

Word Weavers is an exciting interactive story which you and your child can read together. In this way it is radically different from most KS2 and KS3 English courses, while covering everything your child needs to learn between the ages of 8 and 13.

 

The course is colourful and engaging and is based on the idea that words have magical powers! Equivalent powers (or spells) are needed to master them and in this way children have real fun learning about nouns, adjectives and verbs (they’re the dangerous ones!); sentences and paragraphs, story-telling and how to read and write with understanding. There are spells to master all those difficult spellings (each child has their own Spell Book), and lots of really interesting stuff, too, about our elegant monster, the English Language. Later parts of the course address various KS3 reading and writing skills (such as writing to persuade, advise, inform, etc). By the time your child has finished the course, they will have the tools and skills to begin a GCSE or IGCSE syllabus.

Your child can start their Word Weaving journey at one of two starting points, depending on their age and/or understanding of English:

The course for younger Word Weavers (start age 8 – 9) consists of four parts:

·       Word Weaver Apprentice

·       Word Weaver Wings

·       Word Weaver Wizard

·       Master Word Weaver.

The course for older Word Weavers (start age 10 – 12) consists of three parts:

·       Word Weavers Advanced Start

·       Word Weaver Wings

·       Master Word Weaver

Each level of the course is purchased separately and consists of an attractive textbook, a Spell Book, dictionary and Audio CDs. There are 10 tutor marked assignments with each level and self-check exercises; as with my other courses there is unlimited (within reason!) phone and email support from myself. The cost of the course is £95 per level.
